Finished Editing

Our group finished editing with a couple of days left before the deadline, in those last couple of days we planned how we would get the music and sound done including important foleys that had to be used in order to make our product seem realistic and make it more exciting. Throughout the time in editing, each of us took it in turns to book out the equipment, we would all try and be there as much as possible, we found it was difficult to book out times where we were all free though, this was a big problem we had. I managed to fit in alot of time with the editing though due to having a lot of time free, with this time and time with others in the group i uploaded the rushes onto the computer and would put it into the program: Imovie. This is a simple editing program that is quick and easy to use, it offers alot in transitions and effects also. Due to having alot of rushes, it would take a while to find exactly what we wanted and to find the perfect shot for each part. We had to make sure there were no errors in editing, props, filming and lighting.

Overall, we have changed alot from what we planned to have in our product. Once we had all of our rushes on the computer, we decided we wanted to use different shots etc. Overall, we changed our product three times, we found it looked too much like a trailer rather than an opening sequence the first time, the second time we wanted too much footage included therefore it was too long, fortunately we cut alot and included other shots in it to make more sense. Now we have finished it we are very pleased with what we have managed to include in it with it still making sense and looking like a good opening sequence to a thriller.

The changes we made between the storyboarding and finished product were quite high, we cut out the whole scene including the conversation at the breakfast table between Abi and Bea, we cut this out to give us more time to put more thrilling and exciting footage in. The dialogue they would have come out with in that scene was quite important though, so in order to still include the dialogue, we made voice overs and put these on whilst the title sequence would appear. This way we were able to put better footage in and were still able to keep the important script in.

The storyboard and final product can be found at the bottom of this page, you will be able to see the changes we made from the original storyboard.
