Filming the first scene of our opening sequence

Abi and I, on the 3rd of March booked out the equipment we needed for the first scene. This included a lighting kit, tripod and an XTM camera. We had planned out exactly it was we wanted to do which was to go to Abi's house with the equipment and shoot our first scene within the opening sequence. This scene was going to be part of the nightmare that Claire wakes up from, in this the audience see a wall with many horrific pictures on it as well as ripped out newspaper articles. All of this mise en scene is to connote how organised, sick and how much of a psycho our serial killer really is. We knew Abi's house was a perfect setting for this scene as her lounge is half way through being re decorated and is therefore without any wallpaper looking good with our props up on the wall making it look seriously creepy. We moved her furniture away so that none of it was seen in the shot and that we had plenty of space to do our shooting. Bea and Jack would have also helped but were busy on college trips, they did help plan it out and will help out with the rest of the scenes. Once the furniture had been moved, Abi and I printed off pictures that we found on the internet of radom people and crime scenes involving mutilated bodies. We cut out these pictures as well as newspaper articles that are related in some way with murders, we stuck these all up on the wall connecting images together with text by drawing arrows. We were very pleased with the mise en scene in the end and were happy with the shots we managed to get from it.

We made sure we used a wide variety of angles and different types of shots so that we have plenty to choose from and backup during editing. We also had a few weapons placed on a wooden table being seen in an organized position. These will also create tension throughout the audience as well as a toy doll in the corner of the room also being shot, this doll was burnt on parts with one of its eyes torn out. This will also connote how sick our psycho is. During the filming, Abi had a good idea of using the torch as a lighting effect, we turned off all other lighting and only used the torch by slowly dragging it across objects such as weapons and the doll, this really did create a chilling effect. Throughout the afternoon, Abi was in charge mainly of the lighting whilst i was in charge of the filming.

Now to plan how we are going to shoot the next scenes.
